Majors and Minors
The Geography Department offers both the B.A. major and the B.S. major. Students from other majors can earn a minor in geography. The B.A. is intended to provide a strong liberal arts degree focusing on the major subject areas of geography, while maintaining a great deal of flexibility. This flexibility allows students to focus on particular concentration areas and/or choose a second or even third major. The B.S. degree provides additional science requirements that prepare science-oriented students for graduate school and for science-related jobs at the bachelor’s degree level. A geography minor is an excellent complement to many other degrees and majors, including business, journalism, economics, folklore, political science, and many more. A Certificate in GIS and Remote Sensing can help you get a job regardless of your major.
